If you ever wanted to see an example of the Law of Karma, then the recent tape-controversy involving leading Indian journalists is a case in point.
At one time, I was a big fan of both of them. I used to read 'Counterpoint' and watch 'We The People' every week. Back then, I was in the process of 'English-Improvement' and the impeccable English, as always exhibited in the articles/shows, often ensured that I glossed over the substance (or the lack of it) of their arguments. But with time I came to notice the uncanny habit (naaa knack) of the media-houses of deliberately sensationalizing the news. One of the fallout of this was that the media created 'news' even when none existed.
It is interesting to note that some of the points raised in the response by the journalists (as found here and here), are similar in nature to the kind of 'trickery' arguments leveled against them in the past. (Eg: Alleged doctoring of tape, selective maligning of people). As they say, what goes around, comes around.
Maybe this is a wake-up call for the Indian media? Or is this just wishful thinking???
PS: For the record, I still respect both Vir and Barkha for the fact that they have worked hard to be at the top of their profession.

Good post - I completely support your view - our media is messed up much more than it appears on the surface, if you ask me.
